Luke 16:13, "No
servant can serve two masters: for
either he will hate the one, and
love the other; or
else
he will hold to
the one, and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
This morning, we have many
things that try to gain
our attentions, interests, and
service. Many of these
things, in themselves, are not
evil or wicked. For
the working man, his job
requires a lot of his
attention. For the married man
and father, his wife
and children require a lot of
his attention. These
are not unrighteous things.
However, Christ makes it very
clear that nothing
short of God, His goodness, and
His service should be
the focal point of any man's
life. Many times, the
above mentioned things keep us
from serving, praying,
and seeking the Lord like we
should. Have you ever
been asked to work on a Sunday?
Your job has just
required of you to serve it more
than God. Has your
family ever had a reunion on a
Sunday? Have you ever
been asked to take a vacation
away from the Lord's
house? Vacations, reunions, and
jobs are not bad in themselves, but
they must be properly
prioritized and NEVER made above
the Lord.
His kingdom and
righteousness must be
sought FIRST. Your job, etc. are
things to be
attended to, but they are never
something that is
served above and at the sake of
all else. May the God
of all grace give us the
knowledge to know which is
the case, and then may He grant
us the wisdom to apply
that knowledge in
His service.
In Hope,
Bro Philip
