II Peter 1:3, "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:"

This morning, there are many people that do not understand terms like saved, all things, etc. as found in the Bible. They try to make the terms mean the exact same thing throughout the Bible, and they end up
greatly confused. The term “all things” is found in this verse and it sets the correct description for the interpretation in many other verses. This verse tells us that the all things given to us by God are
things that pertain to life and godliness. Therefore, if you encounter a thing that does not pertain unto life and godliness, then that is NOT part of the all things given to you according to His divine nature and power.

Most people try to make Romans 8:28 literally mean everything that happens to us in our existence here on earth. However, I have never met anyone that ran Philippians 4:13 to mean that as well. Both verses talk about "all things." However, they are both still in the realm of the all things that God has done, is doing, and will do for His people. These are things that are good and perfect, they have no schism (or division) in them, and they do not interact with darkness and wickedness. When the Lord overrides an evil action, it does not mean His actions are working together with
it.

Also, He gives us things that are beneficial for our life and godliness, and that does not include tempting us with sin. That is what the devil does, and God is not responsible for it. Also, we can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth us.  Christ never strengthens us to sin. Christ never tempts us to sin, so obviously these are not included in the all things. However, what is included in all things that pertain unto life and godliness are the things that God foreordained to rescue His people from the miry clay.

He foreknew His people in love and chose them in His Son. Then, He predestinated them to immortal glory in the image of His Son. He calls His people from nature's darkness into His marvellous light while they walk this earth, declares them righteous in the blood of His Son, and finally glorifies their bodies on the resurrection morning at the last trump. These are things that pertain unto life and godliness that He has given to us freely.

In Hope,

Bro Philip
