KING JAMES TRANSLATION
Jesus says in - Mark 13:31 - "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words
shall not pass away." Please notice that God's
WORDS, not just WORD, shall not pass away. The WORDS of The Word shall be
preserved forever...
Addressing this from both a Natural and Spiritual aspect is the major thrust.
NATURALLY speaking the KJT is a masterpiece of English Literature; the most
popular, best loved, and greatest seller in The World for 382 years. It is "THE"
Bible "of the people" ! It has matchless beauty and style. It is musical
English, easy to quote and memorize,
with grandeur and charm. It's metering is balanced, flows like a great river,
and is loved by rich and poor alike. The KJT is the chief glory of the English
Language. It's translators reached the height of expression, reaching back to
Wycliff and Tyndale.
SPIRITUALLY speaking, the KJT is truly the English Expression of God's Divinely
Inspired Word, complete without error. The beauty of the forms of "Thee, Thou,
Thy and Thine" was not known before. These forms were, by design, invented
for Inspired Expression. Poets and Writers, such as Shakespeare, borrowed these
KJV Forms for their own writings. These forms did not exist before 1611 A.D. For
proof, notice the Preface of Thanks, in the front of all KJT Bibles, where the
translators were thanking the "Most High and Mighty Prince James" for the
privilege of participating in such a noble work. You will quickly notice the
wording of this preface was "you and your", and not the forms of the KJT. The
common language of the ordinary people in England during the early 1600's was
not "Thee, Thou, Thy and Thine", but "you and your."
The accuracy of this magnificent work is still above reproach. If you collected
all the awkward forms (not errors) of the KJV and put
them all together they would fill only about 1 1/2 pages.
The THUNDERING DICTION of the KJT lives on ! ! !
Psalms 12:6-7 - "The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a
furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep THEM, O Lord, thou shalt
preserve THEM from this generation for ever."
You will notice the pronoun THEM. So, again, The WORDS, not just Word, but the
words of The Word - all of them - are preserved forever !
If they are all preserved, then we still have every one of the words of The
Word...
Deut. 4:2; Prov. 30:5-6; Rev. 22:18-19 - all tell us not to add to, or diminish
ought from the words of The Word...
Prov. 30:5 - "Every word of God is pure..." The plagues of this book shall be
added to whoever tampers with the words of The Word.
This is a serious charge - tampering with God's Words...
The attempts to improve upon the 1611 A.D. KJT is downhill. The beauty,
metering, balance, blend, flow and magnificence is degene-
rated, when tampered with...
The so-called "New KJV" is just such. So are most all the other versions,
translations and revisions. I feel "cheap" when I read
"you and your" when it should be on a much higher elevated level of
reverence, showing honor, praise and adoration to our Lord, expressed in
full respect as "Thee, Thou, Thy and Thine"...
When I read other versions, I lose the depth of spiritual feeling, and dimension
of understanding. I know when "man" is writing; and
the difference when I read "God's" Word/Writings... God's Word is Special,
and man's writings, at the very best, are just common and
ordinary.
There are 39 Books in the O.T. and 27 in the N.T., for a total of 66. 1189
Chapters and 810,697 Words. The Chapter Divisions came in 1250 A.D., and the
Verse Division in 1551 A.D.
Spiritually speaking, Tyndale's dying prayer was "Lord, open the King of
England's eyes" - Oct. 6, 1536 A.D. He was burned at the stake, as his reward
for printing the Word of God in English, available to the commoner. His prayer
was for The Bible to be made available IN ENGLISH to ALL the people.
Johann Gutenberg, between 1440-50 A.D. invented the Printing Press. The timing
of this invention was a providential blessing of God.
Tyndale's prayer was answered on July 22, 1604 when King James I (of The Tudor
Family) ordered 54 of the most learned language scholars of England to translate
ONLY from Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek Manuscripts, of the Common Koine Greek, from
the Textus Receptus, into English. 47 responded and were divided into six (6)
companies, 2 at Westminister, 2 at Oxford, and 2 at Cambridge. Each were
assigned different parts of The Bible. After completing each ones' assignment,
they then exchanged and cross-checked each others works, till ALL agreed to the
LETTER. This work was finished seven (7) years later in 1611 A.D.
The KJT was not divinely inspired, as were the original autographs, but
certainly was under the providence of God.
I close with - Psalms 119:140 - "Thy word is very pure; therefore thy servant
loveth it." First, I defend the WORDS of The Word.
Every word is still intact - preserved; therefore such is VERY PURE.Secondly, if
I know my heart, I love God's Word - every word of The Word, especially as found
in the English KJT...
